Seneca Lake Wine Trail

In 1986 the Seneca Lake Wine Trail was formed and so began the production of world-class wines. Comprised of over 35 wineries, distilleries, cider producers, and multiple breweries, The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is the largest and most active wine trail in New York State.

Seneca Lake’s natural combination of deep water and sloping hillsides provides the ideal micro-climate for grape growing. Seneca Lake Wine Trail wineries have won hundreds of national and international medals and are recognized as world-class producers of Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Honey Wines (Meads). The large size and deep depths of Seneca Lake make it ideal for grape growing. It is no surprise Seneca Lake hosts more wineries than any of the other Finger Lakes.
